Sony Xperia C5 Ultra, Xperia M5 Selfie-Focused Smartphones Launched

Sony, as expected, has launched the Xperia C5 Ultra and Xperia M5 camera-focused smartphones on Monday. The Japanese company revealed that both the new handsets will be available in single and dual-SIM variants.

Both the Sony Xperia C5 Ultra and Sony Xperia M5 (alongside Xperia C5 Ultra Dual and Xperia M5 Dual) will be available in select countries across emerging markets starting mid-August. Sony is likely to reveal the pricing of both the handsets at launch locally. The single-SIM and dual-SIM variants are identical in terms of specifications, with the exception of the latter sporting two SIM card slots.

Much like Sony's Xperia C3 selfie-focused smartphone, the newly announced Xperia C5 Ultra is also targeted at selfie lovers and sports 13-megapixel front and rear cameras. Both the front and rear cameras are accompanied by LED flash modules and include Sony's Exmor RS sensor. Some of the camera tools on the Xperia C5 Ultra include video stabiliser, auto scene recognition, 25mm wide-angle lens (rear) with an 80-degree field of view, 4x digital zoom, full-HD video recording, image stabiliser, geotagging, and red-eye reduction among others.

The smartphone features a 6-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) IPS display powered by Sony's Mobile Bravia Engine 2. The company touts that the handset sports a "near borderless" display.

The Android 5.0 Lollipop-based Xperia C5 Ultra is powered by a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek (MT6752) processor clocked at 1.7GHz coupled with ARM Mali760 GPU and 2GB of RAM. The handset packs 16GB of inbuilt storage which can be expanded further via microSD card (up to 200GB). Unlike Sony's other mid-range and premium smartphones, the Xperia C5 Ultra doesn't sport water and dust protection. Connectivity options on the handset include GPRS/ EDGE, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, Glonass, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Micro-USB, 3G, and 4G LTE (not available in all markets). It packs a 2930mAh battery; measures 164.2x79.6x8.2mm and weighs 187 grams.

The Sony Xperia M5, on the other hand, is touted to be a mid-range "waterproof Android smartphone." It features IP65 and IP68 certification making the handset water and dust proof. Much like Sony's flagship smartphones, the Xperia M5 also features a cap-less USB port.

Much like the Xperia C5 Ultra, the Xperia M5 also features a 13-megapixel front-facing camera with Sony's Exmor RS sensor. The smartphone sports a 21.5-megapixel rear camera with what Sony calls "Hybrid autofocus" and a f/2.2 lens. The rear camera offers 5x image zoom, 4K video recording, auto scene recognition, image stabiliser, and geotagging among other features. It features a 5-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) display.

The Sony Xperia M5 is powered by a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 (MT6795) processor clocked at 2GHz with 3GB of RAM. It features 16GB internal storage which can be expanded via microSD card (up to 200GB).

The Android 5.0 Lollipop-based Xperia M5 supports GPRS/ EDGE, 3G, and 4G (not available in all markets) connectivity options. The smartphone packs a 2600mAh battery.

Sony has launched Xperia Z, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1 this year. The good news coming out is, Sony has rolling out Android 4.2 Jelly Bean firmware update for the Sony Xperia Z Ultra and Sony Xperia Z1 smartphones.

Sony Xperia i1 Honami | Leaked Images | 20 MP Camera | Features | Review

Sony's brand new 6.4-Inch Xperia Z Ultra phablet that they announced earlier this week, but new one leaked image of upcoming flagship Android smartphone that could end up being called Xperia i1 codename "Honami".

Sony India today added two new models to its 4K TV portfolio and refreshed its Bravia line-up by unveiling 20 new television sets. The new models in Sony's 4K range have displays measuring 55-inch (KD-55X9004) and 65-inch (KD-65X9004) and are priced at Rs 3.05 lakh and Rs 4.05 lakh, respectively. The previous 4K TV that Sony unveiled cost Rs 17 lakh and had screen measuring 84-inch.

These 4K Ultra HD LED TVs have a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels, which is four times that of a full-HD TV. The extremely high resolution produces a wide range of colours and crystal clear images thereby offers an ultimate viewing experience. Users can plug in DVD and Blu-ray players and set-top boxes and these TVs convert the content into 4K resolution.

According to KenichiroHibi, managing director, Sony India, "Over the years, Sony India has established market leadership in flat-panel televisions category and we aim to further strengthen this position with the newly launched line-up of 4KBravia televisions. With the launch today, we are targeting a bigger market for 4K TVs by introducing the technology at a very strategic price-point. We will be increasing our Bravia marketing budget to Rs 250 crore and channel counters to 7,000 in FY13."

He added that the company would launch a new range of affordable and compact TV sets by the end of this year. "We will launch affordable television sets for tier II and III cities this year and keep prices around Rs 15,000," he said.

Sony c660x yuga android smartphone | powerful and biggest 5inch display smartphone

Sony next Yuga android based smartphone assuming that will launch by sony next year by rumors. Sony Yuga that will supposedly have a 5-inch Full HD 1080p display and a top of the line specs. Yuga has received a massive specification upgrade, as now it will have the quad-core Samsung Exynos 5 processor.
Sony C660X Yuga will feature a quad-core processor from Samsung, 3GB RAM and an incredible 128GB of built-in storage - that's twice the storage of top-end models of smartphones like the iPhone.

Keeping with the Sony tradition of making phones with good cameras, the C660X Yuga is likely to feature a 16-megapixel camera. Powering this monster package will be a large 3000mAh battery.

Now these specs definitely are much higher than what the Yuga is expected to have, but then again 2013 is approaching rapidly and the Yuga still is not out and it will be strange if Sony outs two 5-inch phablets in 2013. That said, we could very well see a situation where one product comes in the first half of 2013, while the other comes in the second half.

Another oddity regarding this report is the fact that Sony is known to exclusively use Qualcomm chipsets and this new product will use a chipset made by Samsung, which is a Sony rival in the smartphone space.

The data usage application monitors how much is being spent and the extended standby mode increases the standby time up to 4 times. However, calling and messaging will continue to work as normal. Sony explains that once you touch the screen to wake the device up from standby, all functions return back to normal.
