Samsung Israel Promises March 15 Android 4.0 Galaxy S II Upgrade

Generally speaking, so long as all of the bugs are worked out of a new operating system and a device has the minimum hardware requirements to support it, customers look forward to the features that a new OS version can bring. Folks in Israel have been waiting for the arrival of Android 4.0 for the Samsung Galaxy S II, an update that has been promised for a while now.

Well, in ten days from now, March 15th to be exact, this promise will be met with Android 4.0 being pushed down to the Galaxy S II. The news comes by way of Samsung’s Israeli wing which also took a moment to thank their customers who had been patiently waiting for the new Gooogle OS. Based upon the information available, it will not matter whether you purchased your device from Samsung directly as an unlocked model or if you purchased it from a mobile carrier and thereby have a locked model.
Right now, the update is limited to just Israel but it should ultimately make its way to the rest of the world. One of the key factors regarding the global launch will be testing and the number of variants that have to be tested. Within the US itself, there are a number of different editions including the 42Mbps HSPA+ model offered by T-Mobile and the Epic 4G Touch. These will all need to be tested before Android 4.0 can be pushed down within the US.
