Windows 8 Updates

This is the year when we finally get Windows 8 on our PC(hopefully!). Everyday we are getting to know more and more about the OS which is on its way to make history in the tech world. The latest new feature that has been unveiled really made us go gaga over Windows 8 all over again. You can control Windows 8 with your eyes.
Yes you read that right! The guys at Tobii made just that for Windows 8. Their eye control device is like a rectangular glass obelisk attached to the hinge of the laptop which tracks your eyeball everywhere. It is accurately accurate, like Kinect on X360. Once it is calibrated it can perform all that was possible on touchscreens with touch. You can also use apps using this software and perform the slide function. You can also play games using just your eyes! It feels like this is going to replace touchscreens in the near future (or maybe not).
Another great feature to be introduced is ‘Storage Spaces’. Until now we are used to several drive letters(or names) in which we store our data. But we still need to remember what is there is which partition. We even took backup on external drives and eventually it just got more and more complicated. But that is going to change in Windows 8. With the introduction of Storage Spaces the data will be pooled under logical spaces which can have internal drives as well as external drives added to them. You can also choose the level of redundancy(for backups) so that you won’t lose anything. Ever. Moreover a pool of drives can also be ported from one PC to another PC(both running Windows 8 ) easily. The only downside may be that you will need a lot more drives, most probably multi-NAS storage or RAID systems.
Another great news we all are excited about is that we will enter the Beta Escrow stage from the 23rd of January and we will get the internal preview on the 30th of this month. This means we may get our hands on the Pre-Beta in about 2 weeks! Looking at the horde of features that are being pumped into Windows 8 aren’t you a bit elated as we are right now?
