Best of CES 2012: Project Fiona

Apart from all the Ultrabooks, HD TVs and tablets Project Fiona attracted a lot of attention at CES this year. Termed as “The Future of Gaming” this handheld device is a tablet with the guts of a powerful PC. At first it looks like a fat iPad with handles!

It is packed with a core-i7 processor under a 10.1″ multitouch display at 1280×800 and supports Dolby 7.1 surround sound. It has 3-axis gyro, magnetometer and accelerator. It even has wifi and bluetooth. Many mobile gamers would be overjoyed over this mobile and powerful console. It is still a prototype and the version displayed at CES is just the version 0.2 and they have already made version 0.8. The GPU and battery are still unknown. The officials have set the price at about $1000 for the final device though no date has been given for its release.

Considering the excellent hardware underneath, the build quality is quite impressive too! The tablet is aimed to run Windows 8 though Razer will add some of their own custom software to enhance the gaming experience. It could run Warhammer 40K: Space Marine quite easily. Its controls are no different than the standard buttons of an Xbox or PS3 controller. Any gamer would be up and running on it in no time.

According to Razer’s website the tablet is certified by THX and its force feedback will give you the feel of gaming you always wanted. Though it is still just a prototype it gives a taste of what lies ahead in the world of gaming. It is also obvious, given the level of penetration of tablets into mainstream computing. We wait along with thousands of gamers for the ‘future of gaming’ to be delivered onto our hands. Till then, we return to our old chunky PCs for another round of Plants vs Zombies!

Level 10 M Mouse: Ergonomic and unusual mouse for gamers

We have seen all sorts of gaming peripherals, and if you’re looking for unusual gaming mouse, today we have a device you might find suitable.

DesignworksUSA is known for its collaboration with PC case and component manufacturer Thermaltake, and after the Level 10 concept PC, they decided to team up for another joint project called Level 10 M Mouse. Although this mouse is designed with ergonomics in mind, it comes with unusual hollow design, so you’ll able to see its internal parts. As for ergonomics, Level 10 M Mouse has an upper hand plate that almost “hangs” in the air and you can easily adjust the height and tilt of it simply by turning a screw. We should also mention that this mouse also has a perforated surface that keeps your palm from sweating, and in order to achieve appealing look, this mouse comes with aluminum chassis, and thanks to the wired connection, there should be no lagging during intense gameplay sessions.

Level 10 M Mouse certainly looks visually appealing, however, no information regarding the price is available at the moment. As for the availability, we should see this device on the market later this year.
