After the successor of Padfone last year, Asus has announced its new device known as Asus Padfone 2. This Padfone 2 will be available for Europeans and Asians from early 2013 which still feels like ages to wait. It's available in both black and white colours.
It's only been a few months since the first device hit shelves, but Asus has already prepared a follow-up that is lighter, faster and more refined than its predecessor. The PadFone 2's smartphone touts a 4.7-inch Super IPS+ 1280x720 display, a quad-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4, 2GB of RAM, while the device is available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB versions globally-it appears that European countries will only get the 32 and 64GB models. and a 2140mAh battery that supplies up 13 hours of browsing over Wi-Fi and 16 hours of talk time.
As you'd expect from any new high-end mobile device, there's 100Mbps LTE support as well as NFC for mobile payments and as you can see image below of full specification.
The unit announced in Taipei offers support for the 900/2100MHz WCDMA frequencies and the 800/1800/2600MHz LTE frequencies, though there is also GSM compatibility for Europe and elswehere. Data connectivity for both parts of the device comes from the phone's SIM.
The PadFone 2 bundle will launch in Europe and Asia by December or early 2013 for €799 (32GB) and €899/In Asia $749 (64GB). US availability not yet declared.
