The HTC Butterfly is an Android-based, 4G LTE-capable smartphone designed and developed by HTC. The HTC Butterfly is the company's first 5-inch phone, and more importantly, the first phone to feature a 1080p display. When HTC launched the J Butterfly in Japan last October, the rest of the world watched with envious eyes as the Japanese laid their hands on the new HTC flagship phone. As a Japan-specific model, it initally seemed that the J Butterfly would not make it anywhere else beyond Japan's shores.

The Chinese and Russian versions of the Butterfly do not have a microSD slot. In the United States, the Butterfly was released as the HTC Droid DNA as a Verizon exclusive: supporting wireless charging, but lacks a MicroSD slot.

I found the design of the phone to be really attractive, and the first thing that one notices is that despite the big 5-inch screen the phone doesn't feel awkward to hold and has a thin profile. Hence, the slimmer form factors, more powerful processors, better UIs and most significant of all, sky-high prices, which consumers seem to be more than ready to pay.

HTC Butterfly is a waterproof phone and has a 5-inch "Super LCD 3" display with full HD resolution of (1920x1080 pixels). Butterfly screen pixel density of 440 ppi. In comparison, The HTC One X offers 312 ppi. The Motorola Droid RAZR (HD has 720p display) at 312ppi, the Sony Xperia Z have 441 ppi, and the Nokia Lumia 920 at 332 ppi.

After huge success of Samsung Galaxy S3, Samsung Electronics ltd will launch Galaxy S4 expected for sale in the month of april. Samsung's yet to be announced Galaxy S4 will reportedly be announced at a launch event on 14th March.

The Galaxy S4 is rumoured to be powered by Samsung's new Exynos 5 processor, which will have a whopping eight cores. The new chip's eight-core design is based on AMD's big.LITTLE architecture. This means that there are four powerful Cortex-A15 cores for the phone's most power-hungry functions, and four lower-power Cortex-A7 models to take care of simpler tasks. When the phone isn't needed to do anything fancy, the more powerful cores shut down, extending battery life.

According to sources speaking to Taiwanese industry rumour site DigiTimes, the S4 will include a 5inch Full HD display with an impressive 1920x1080 resolution, following a trend starting with rival HTC's Butterfly handset. Such a display would have an impressive pixel density of around 440 pixels per inch (PPI) - significantly above the resolution of Apple's Retina display technology.

Samsung Galaxy S4 will have wireless charging built in. Wireless charging, in which inductive or resonating systems provide power to without the need to connect a charging cable, are becoming increasingly popular: Nokia's flagship Lumia 920 includes wireless charging built into the phone. Integration makes a lot of sense as it removes the need for bulky wireless charging cases that bulk up a handset, and make it much more convenient to charge a phone. We'd expect Samsung to want all of the latest technologies in its new handset and wireless charging makes a lot of sense.

Sony announced Xperia Z a quad core android smartphone in Xperia family. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has broken cover with a suspected release date of 2013, but when can we expect to see this phablet emerge?

Samsung has said it is switching focus at the beginning of 2013 to concentrate on its OLED displays - in small, medium and large formats. Moving its staff away from LCD and onto OLED development could mean it will be ready for production much sooner than previous rumours.

We think a Q3 2013 release could be on the cards - slightly later than its 2012 Galaxy Note August release date, but developing a 6.3-inch OLED display can't be easy work!

With Samsung commonly using the pen tile arrangement in its other already released smart phones the new Galaxy Note 3 is thought to be coming with RGB matrix. With this kind of matrix it will essentially mean that the phone will achieve more resolutions of up to 1024x 980 with a 358ppi density.

The new resolution design essentially means that the design will come with a resolution of up to 244ppi translating to not less than 16subpixels in its RGB pixels. This simply means that clarity will be at its best for the display thus allowing one to take super bright and crystal clear images. This clearly shows that Samsung is not afraid to experiment with the sub pixels count and the AMOLED displays shape.

The new Galaxy Note 3 will bring 2.6GHZ Quad-Core Cortex-A15 processor that will for sure guarantee fast speeds in all its processes. Supported with 3GB RAM and 64/128GB memory, the new hardware upgrade will essentially make this phone stay way higher as compared to its predecessor as well as among the competitors.

Rumors saying that Apple plans to launch iPhone mini next year 2014. The iPhone mini is expecting at a price ranging from $200 to $250.

"We expect Samsung to slightly extend its lead over Apple this year because of its larger multitier product portfolio," Neil Mawston, executive director at Strategy Analytics, said in an e-mail interview with Reuters.

Global smartphone shipments will jump 27 percent to 875 million this year, slowing from last year's torrid 41 percent pace as growth is easing in many key markets such as North America, China, the developed economies of Asia, and Western Europe, Mawston said.

South Korea's Samsung Electronics is forecast to sell 290 million smartphones this year, up from a projected 215 million in 2012, the research firm said. Apple's smartphone sales are projected to reach 180 million this year, up 33 percent from last year, slightly trailing Samsung's 35 percent increase.

This will give Samsung a 33 percent share of the 2013 smartphone market, up from last year's estimated 31 percent, while Apple will hold 21 percent, versus last year's 20 percent.

The Korean handset maker has the edge over Apple in large part because it "plays in more segments," Mawston told Reuters, allowing it to "capture more volume than Apple."

To fight back, Apple may try to win over a larger base of consumers by launching a smaller, cheaper variant of the iPhone, dubbed the "iPhone Mini" by the analyst.

With the iPhone 5 grabbing huge demand and sales, a low-end model may not be on Apple's agenda this year.

There’s absolutely no evidence that Apple is working on an iPhone mini — but for that matter there’s wasn’t much to indicate that the company was working on the iPad mini either — but the rumors suggest a smaller, cheaper handset that will appeal to those who are interested in the iPhone but find the current offering too expensive.

While there’s no doubt that this would have huge appeal in the U.S., a cheap iPhone would have massive appeal in countries such as China and India. And if Apple can gain traction in these countries, it could add billions to its profits, and millions of new users every quarter.

HTC M7 Smartphone to be announced by CES next week | Review Features

We recently heard about some leaked specifications for the new HTC M7 smartphone, which is basically the GSM version of the Verizon Droid DNA, and now according to a recent report the HTC M7 may be unveiled at CES next week.

As per a report in HTC Source, HTC is planning to launch HTC M7 as early as Q1 2012, Rumoured HTC device Specifications. According to the report, HTC M7 will feature a 4.7-inch HD display the phone's capacitive touchscreen display will offer 468ppi and will integrate SoLux technology, a uni-body aluminium shell, quad-core processor and there are also believed to be several camera improvements, with a 1080p, 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and 1080p front-facing camera too.

The HTC M7 will be powered by a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, clocked at 1.7GHz, and the handset will also feature 2GB of RAM and 32GB of built in storage and no word on the microSD card slot for now.

The M7 will be powered by Android Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, integrated with HTC's Sense 5 UI, we hopefully should have more details on the device next week.

Keeping with the Sony tradition of making phones with good cameras, the C660X Yuga is likely to feature a 16-megapixel camera. Powering this monster package will be a large 3000mAh battery.

Now these specs definitely are much higher than what the Yuga is expected to have, but then again 2013 is approaching rapidly and the Yuga still is not out and it will be strange if Sony outs two 5-inch phablets in 2013. That said, we could very well see a situation where one product comes in the first half of 2013, while the other comes in the second half.

Another oddity regarding this report is the fact that Sony is known to exclusively use Qualcomm chipsets and this new product will use a chipset made by Samsung, which is a Sony rival in the smartphone space.

Sony claims that the Xperia E has also been designed to allow consumers stay on top of cost and power consumption. The data usage application monitors how much is being spent and the extended standby mode increases the standby time up to 4 times. When the screen has been in sleep mode for a few minutes, Wi-Fi and data traffic will be disabled and most applications will be inactive to save the battery life. However, calling and messaging will continue to work as normal. Sony explains that once you touch the screen to wake the device up from standby, all functions return back to normal.

As of now, pricing of this handset is not known and more regarding the same will be available closer to the date of launch.
